Having recently moved into a new house, expanding the size (and improving the quality) of the household by 100%, this is but one of the many essential decisions that we made. Yes, it’s the quintessential question — what is the correct way to hang a roll of toilet paper.
Infographic source: CurrentConfig, who also has a PDF version suitable for printing, folding and hanging on a toilet roll (should you know of someone who needs illumination on the proper technique).
You know life is good when these are some of the decisions you are faced with. I whole-heartedly agree Jeff. Should we get congress to take this up?
I am showing this one to the kids, I think when I show them visuals they will get a better understanding of teepee positioning lol
This is important stuff that I learned when living with roommates. Now it’s the law of the land in my house. Why doesn’t everyone know this? Thank you for helping to, er, wipe out ignorance.
Love this!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I have to show this to my husband! He will love it. I am guilty of hanging it whichever way its facing in my hand.
Jeff,
This was hysterically useful. I never could answer this question before, but now thanks to your thorough research and graphics I finally have the answer.
ALWAYS over! Lol. No debate about it.
OMG – hilarious…needed a laugh today!
Thank you!
A friend of mine visited my house few years ago and told me the same thing… actually he went to every toilet to check if I did hang correctly… I g uess one gets to learn new things everyday…
Thanks for the comments, everyone. Thought everyone could use a little comic relief on Wednesday. Although in all seriousness, it IS truly the one, right way.
Hysterical! I thought this was just a male/female issue; apparently, I was wrong.
LMAO!!!! I HAD to share this one.
Haha, awesome post! Thanks for the laugh, and I am happy to report I put my toilet paper on the role in the correct manner!
Hahaha! Reading this, I’m actually quite excited to confirm that I’ve been doing it right all these years
Good to know I’ve been hanging it right.
I wish I could get people at work to get this straight in their minds. Every time I change the empty roll, someone comes behind me and changes it to the “under” way. Drives me crazy. Its the wrong way. LOL Maybe I should hand the pretty color pictures in the batroom. LOL
I may just print this out and hang it over the toilet roll holder. I have been known to forget myself and “correct” the direction of hanging in other people’s houses!
My first wife used to be really adamant about having the paper roll under. I’m emailing a link to this article to her. lol.
What is the remedy when the timing of the forward tear isn’t exactly perfect and six feet of paper is expelled into the air and onto the floor? Going the other way, the roll just spins around on itself.
If I’m a visitor in another home and find their TP hung incorrectly, I always turn it around for them. I figure it’s the least I can do to thank them for their hospitality.
