Day 13 in Paris: Le Refuge du Passé

Le Refuge du Passe

This little restaurant was well off the beaten path with incredible food. I highly recommend it, but don’t take my word for it. You can read from the over 240 reviews of Le Refuge du Passé at The Fork.

This was one of the only photos I took today. It was a day of rest for Joan and I. We spied this restaurant the night before, and vowed to return. We did, and loved it!

You can read more about our 13th day in France here on Joan’s travel blog, and you can view a complete overview of our Paris trip here on Memolane.

I chose this photo to represent Day 183 from Project 365. I liked the darkness, the narrow sidewalk and the damp pavement.

Day 12 in France: A Visit to the D-Day Landing Site

Contemplation

Since we were in France on the Fourth of July, we honored the day with a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Omaha beach.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t expect to be moved to tears, but I was. The visitor center has a series of multimedia displays, exhibits and films that really express the tremendous sacrifice of our service men and women. Thank you.

In this photo, Joan was reflecting on that sacrifice at one of the memorials. I felt that this was a fitting choice for Day 182 of Project 365.

France, Day 11: A Trip to Mont Saint-Michel

Le Mont Saint Michel

This shot was taken at about 9:50 pm and the sun was still up. Mont St-Michel was an island, but is now connected to mainland France by the narrow causeway you see in the foreground.

We spent the evening wandering the medieval streets and steps of St-Michel. One word describes it: magical.

I chose this to represent Day #181 from my Project 365.

Paris, Day 10 & Antique Dumbbells at the Flea Market

Antique Dumbells

On our tenth day in Paris, we journeyed to the outskirts of the city to visit Marche Puces — one of the largest and oldest flea markets in Paris. We wandered rows and rows of antiques. Bought a few small things. But it was this set of antique dumbbells that caught my eye, mainly because I’d never seen anything like them before.

You can read more about our tenth day in Paris on Joan’s travel blog, or get a great overview of the entire trip here on Memolane.

Day 8 in Paris: Montmarte

Place Tertre at Night

Montmarte at night is beautiful. There were a lot of great shots today during our visit to Montmarte and Sacre Coeur, but this is the one I chose for #178 in my Project 365.

Check out Joan’s blog for more about our visit to Montemarte and video of the crazy, world-record-setting rollerblade jump we saw on a ramp down the steps of Sacre Coeur in Jour 8.
