You may recall that I attempted to upgrade the blog to Movable Type 3.2 a couple months back, when it first came out. It did not go smoothly, and I quickly reverted back to my older version until I had some time to try again. That time came tonight.
This time around, it worked. I kept the database intact, but purged all the old files except uploaded images, then uploaded a fresh set of MT files. I reverted to all the default templates (losing my edits for things like the webcam in the process), and am now in the process of sorting out the style sheet information. As you can see, the current style is very different from what you’re used to seeing here. It’s a safe bet that you’ll see more changes as I work through the layout and colors.
I’ve also been playing around with the new StyleCatcher and Notify plug-ins. StyleCatcher makes it really easy to swap out the styles for the blog, and Notify gives readers a chance to subscribe to any entry, category or even the entire blog and get email notification of new comments or entries.
I’m also looking to incorporate folksonomy tagging, and a much better way of sorting through the archives. And yes, the webcam will return.
