It’s true. Although I’ve used Microsoft Windows since version 1.0 (that was painful), I bought a Mac.
True, it’s for my daughter, and she’ll be taking up to UCSB when she moves up there at the end of the month, but it’s still somewhat of a milestone.
No, I’m not planning to switch over. I’m actually pretty happy with my current work environment in Windows XP. But I am very likely to buy another Mac. I won’t use it as my primary computer, but I can use it to test my websites and familiarize myself with the instant messaging products available for OS X.
Frankly, I like the interface and the product design a lot. OS X is beautiful… simple and elegant. I think it will serve my daughter quite well. And software for students is a bargain! I was able to buy Microsoft Office for OS X for $149… and it includes license keys for up to three computers! It pays to go to school.

Macs, now they are acually something “cool”. I kinda wish I had one just to learn about it. OS X Tiger is the #1 OS according to CNET. I have read about some of the IM products for Mac and they seem pretty good. Now not all are as updated as they are for Windows, however it has some of its own Multi-IM programs that look really good. Maybe Macs arn’t that bad after all. However I won’t be buying one until they get the Two-Button mouse. I don’t want to just click and hold for a menu I can get instantly with a right-mouse click.
