Yet another complete waste of time… it’s the car cam project!
I’ve had a fascination with webcams for years now. I’ve run webcams at home and work for a long time. Those of you who know me well also know that I have a lengthy commute that consumes about three hours of my day… when I’m not telecommuting. To make that commute more tolerable, I upgraded my ride. Fun!
My 55 mile drive takes me over a winding, two-lane mountain road known as one of the most deadly in California: The Ortega Highway. Blind corners. Sheer drops. Cars have been known to careen off the highway and not be found for a week or more. Who wouldn’t want to share that drive?
Along comes a nifty little car cam project from erinch.com. He took an old Logitech webcam and mounted it on the front of his Honda, then recorded a series of movies of the view driving around town. You can see the gears turning in my head…
As if I needed another project to suck up what little time I have left in my 24 hour days.
