Back in November I had the opportunity to travel to downtown LA for a half-day presentation on web analytics. The location was the Bonaventure Hotel, a popular location for many movies. I brought along my digital camera just in case I’d have an opportunity to take some photos.
The day was hazy, and the sky was not the beautiful clear-blue I hoped for, but I still took a few photos before I took off. “Paradise,” a photo of a Bird-of-Paradise flower with the Bonaventure in the background was just selected as the featured photo on UniqueExposures –a wonderful community with some really talented photographers. I’m honored to be considered alongside them.
The version of Paradise that was featured at UniqueExposures was post-processed in Adobe Photoshop. I cropped the image and adjusted the contrast to make the flowers really stand out.
When you contrast with the original, you’ll see why I prefer the altered version. Some purists might argue that post-processing photos is somehow wrong, but I don’t have strong feelings against it. Capturing a feeling or a moment perfectly requires talent or luck, and sometimes a measure of both. I’m just happy to share something that catches my eye, and once in a while, tweak it a bit to make it even better.
Which do you prefer?

They both look quite interesting actually… of course I prefer the ‘sunny’ one, but they’re both quite cool. 🙂
Congratulations with being featured on UniqueExposures. 🙂
